Land Rights Group in Tucson in August of 2018

The group was a regional delegation from Australia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste and Vietnam here to study land rights.  The opportunity to meet with so many quality presenters made their trip to the desert well worth their time.  The liaison, Marek Kuzman, returned to Tucson with this group, always good to have a friend come back!

Meeting with Chairman Nunez of the Tohono O’odham tribal nation gave them the opportunity to learn of the formation of the reservation and the rights the tribe has with their land.  Followed up with a visit with Chief of Police, Michael Valenzuela of the Pascua Yaqui nation where they learned how the laws of the nation and the state of Iowa and Federal government work.  They were also fortunate enough to meet with Chairman Valencia from the Pascua Yaqui.

Consul General Staab from the US Consulate in Nogales, Sonora met with the group at the Santa Cruz/Nogales Chamber of Commerce.  They also met with Mr. Kramer from the education department in Nogales, AZ.
